I can't

May 31, 2021

We all have ‘em.

We have beliefs about ourselves. We create our identity around them and we just accept them as true.

I can’t.

I’m a procrastinator.

I’m so ADD.

I have no willpower.

I’m not good at remembering names.

I don't have enough time.

I’m not skinny/smart/successful/rich enough.

We see our beliefs as facts. That's that’s just how it is. But think about it. We can believe anything we want to believe.

At one point I believed fat-free bagels and fat-free cookies were good for me.

Snackwell, anyone?

Or that I wasn’t stretchy enough to do yoga (Kelle’s a badass yoga instructor BTW).

Or that I was too ADD to read books so I only read magazines. Seriously?

None of those things were true. That’s just what I believed at the time. I didn’t have evidence otherwise. When we want to create that next result in our kick-ass life, we have to first have the belief it’s possible.

Beliefs are just thoughts  we’ve looped on repeat,  over and over again.

And here’s the thing. We can change them. They’re optional.

We can decide what we want to believe.

Belief. Creates. Results.

Picture yourself doing something hard.

Instead of saying to yourself, I can’t.

Practice saying, I might.  Because sometimes, I can is a bridge too far.

You have to have belief in yourself. Even just a teeny tiny bit. You have to believe what you want is possible.

What we’re talking about here is managing your mind.

Notice those old beliefs that are no longer serving you. Those old tapes.  And replace them with ones that better reflect who you’re becoming, cultivating that seed of unstoppable badassery that’s already within you.

Beliefs are important AF. Right?

That’s why we’re sharing our process for creating new beliefs on purpose.

5 steps to creating new beliefs:

1. Decide what you want to believe.

Start with something small, like being able to remember people's names or deciding you have plenty of time to work out.

2. Embrace your future self. The WHO not the HOW.

The one who can absolutely make your results happen (instead of looking to the past at what we’ve tried and failed at).

3. Do thought work to create new beliefs and accept them as true.

4. Practice your new beliefs.

5. Find evidence to reinforce your new beliefs.

We have to stop allowing ourselves to be anything other than our TRUEST SELF.
