This is messy

This is messy. 

Reading the headlines, it’s hard to be soft and careful right now - (from wildfires and climate change to Afghanistan and WTF Texas?) because it all feels so out of control. And there’s no end in sight. 

But can we be real? We can’t have the light without the darkness.

This is when we feel our feelings, deeply - we can’t ignore them. We go there.

Anger

Confusion

Defensive

Attacked 

Sadness

Detachment

Ashamed

Divisive 

Wrong 

Unworthy

Powerless

Less than

Life is 50:50 and this is the shit we need to feel and not ignore. It sucks. 

And, this is how you know you’re alive.

The harder we feel the discomfort right now, the harder we’re able to feel joy. Love. Connection. Worthiness. Power.

We have to feel all the feels deeply. Not resist. Not avoid or ignore or pretend it’s not happening. 

These emotions, they get stuck. And they stay there and fester. And they come out sideways. 

When we get angry, it isn’t pretty. It isn’t polite. It’s messy AF and that’s ok. But misplaced anger is worse: when we react by yelling at our kids or our spouse, lashing out, numbing - instead of processing it through first. 

This is hard, we don’t want to feel the feels - but it’s the most important thing we can do right now. 

First. 

And then we get to decide where we want to go.

This is messy. And that’s ok.
