What's holding you back

This last weekend we were in Sun Valley. We had a blast on and off the slopes all weekend. I wanted to get one more skate ski in before we left in the morning to head home. The catch?

If it was going to happen, I’d have to get on the track in the morning at 6am. In the dark. In 15 degree weather.

Right when my husband mentioned it, I had ALL these thoughts.

The sun won’t be up yet.

It’s going to be freezing.

I hate being cold.

No effing way.

These beliefs are constantly running through my brain. It’s to the point where I’ve believed these thoughts for so long, it feels like it’s just part of who I am:

I love the sun. I hate the cold. BTW I’ve been living in Park City for 20 years.

The problem? These beliefs hold me back. They keep me from doing things I want to do. From living the most kickass life I can dream up for myself. It’s interesting because I watched my brain talk me out of even thinking about skiing that morning.

And now that I’m a coach and have been coached for so long, anytime I’m challenged with something that feels hard, I question it. Because when I prove these beliefs wrong, I increase my capacity for what I’m capable of.

We went skate skiing that morning and it was magical. We were under the light of the full wolf moon. The track was pristine. I was able to connect with my husband and nature. My cup was full of gratitude for that experience and the feeling of being truly ALIVE.

But just because I went skate skiing in 15 degree weather at 6 am and didn't die doesn’t mean I love being cold now. Hell no. But I’m starting to poke holes in that belief that has been holding me back.

So here’s our questions to you:

  1. What’s holding you back from going out there and living the biggest, most kickass life you can imagine for yourself?
  2. What have you been telling yourself and believing on repeat, and do these stories need an edit?
